<h1>I Want to Lose My Belly!</h1>
<p>Man, do I know how you feel. I also wanted to get rid of my belly fat in the worst way. When I was younger I never had a problem. In fact until I turned 40ish I always had a flat stomach. Then all of a sudden I looked in the mirror and noticed quite a bit of lingering fat draped around my mid section. Yuck I need to dump this stuff. So here is what I did.</p>
<h3>First I watched what I ate.</h3>
<p>Obviously we all know that proper nutrition is important. The problem is I like to eat out a lot and junk food is a normal staple for me. So I had to get into a decent eating routine that cut back on at least some of the junk foods. Once you get past the cravings of sweets and the fast food burger and fries coupled with a root beer shake it is amazing how much belly fat rolls off.</p>
<h3>Second I started some high intensity training.</h3>
<p>High intensity training is exactly that. It takes hard work and can even be a tad painful as you get used to pushing yourself past the normal routines. I have found that quick burst work better than long distance running so here is what I do for cardio. I warm up with some stretching exercises then jog for a few minutes. I then run as fast as I can for 30 to 40 seconds. Make it a good wind sprint. I then jog for the same amount of time and then repeat until I cannot do it anymore. When you push yourself to failure you will see a huge difference.</p>
<h3>Third I work out on a regular basis.</h3>
<p>It has been proven that a well rounded exercise plan is far better than keying in on just one portion of the body. In other words just doing abdominal training is not sufficient to lose your belly fat. It takes an over-all plan to get it done. We all have six-pack abs. Its just that some folks have a ton of belly flab covering it up. If you are one who is asking how can I lose my belly fat then you are on the right path to success.</p>

<p>My New Years resolution this year was to lose 20 lbs. While I only weighed 200 lbs when I made the resolution I felt that 180 lbs would be about right for me. Most of my weight was found in the belly fat category. So I started doing some research on the Internet about losing belly fat and boy did I learn a lot.</p>
<p>One of the first things I discovered was that how much you weigh may be less important than you think. Studies show measuring the waistline is a better indicator when it comes to measuring health levels in men and women. It has been proven that men whose waist measures 40 inches or more and women who have a waistline measuring 35 inches or more are putting themselves at risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, cancer, and other illnesses.</p>
<p>Dr. Robert Eckel, president of the AHA, says, &#8220;A big waistline puts you at risk for many health problems&#8212;diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Journal of Neurology published a report Wednesday, March 26, 2008, which said that people that have extra belly fat while in their 40&#8242;s are more likely to have dementia when they reach their 70&#8242;s.</p>
<h2>Here is a simple test to measure your belly fat ratio.</h2>
<p>Everyone should know their waist-to-hip ratio here is a simple way to figure that out.<br />
While standing, measure around your waist, at your navel, without holding it in or pushing out your belly. Then measure your hips at the widest point. And finally, divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement.<br />
That will be your waist to hip ratio.<br />
The ideal will be for your waist to be smaller than your hips. For men it should be .9 or less and women ought to be .8 or less. 1.0 or higher is considered at risk for either sex.</p>
<h3>Alternative Tracks to lose Belly Fat</h3>

No I have not quite lost my 20 lbs yet but I have lost 10 lbs and reduced my belly fat immensely and added muscle. So I think that 190 lbs of muscle far outweighs the actual poundage weight that I have. I have improved my health risks from excess belly fat to a great degree.</p>

Excessive salt (sodium)<br />
