Watch What You Eat To Lose Belly Fat

One of the best ways to get rid of stubborn belly fat is to start eating different.Your body will store less fat if you eat the right things. By cutting out simple carbohydrates,like pasta and white bread, and by eating more vegetables and fresh fruit you will be on your.
Changing your eating habits will help you start getting a flatter belly.

Your overall fat intake should take only a small portion of saturated fat.
Anything with hydrogenated fat, such as cakes and ice cream, should be only slighly consumed.

Your major intake of fat should come from nuts,fish,and sunflower oil which is unsaturated fat. Avoid high fat dairy sources, processed foods and fatty meats.  Add more vegetables and fresh fruit and at least 3 servings of fish each week.

Use this method and see how well it works. On your dinner plate put 1/2 green vegetables,
then 1/4 with a protein rich food, and the remainder with whole grains. This simple method will start you on your way to getting a flat stomach.

Now, instead of eating 3 meals a day, you can eat 6 , just in smaller portions.
This will help your metabolism, which will in turn help you to start to burn more calories
Another benefit is that you want have to get a snack in between meals.

Try to quit drinking soda. By stopping your soda drinking, you are cutting down on your overall sugar consumption. Energy drinks as well as diet sodas should also be consumed less for you to reduce your sugar intake.

Drink more water! It is healthier and has the added benefit of making you feel full, which will help you eat less. It also helps remove harmful toxins that accumulate in your body.

You can expect more energy when you lose your belly fat. Better health and a slimmer figure is also some great benefits you will see once you begin to lose those excess pounds.

By reducing your fat now, you are also reducing your risks of heart disease,stroke
and other health risks.

Lose Weight Quickly - How I Lost 25 Pounds in 2 Months

Cutting calories and losing weight quickly has never really been my thing; regardless, my double chin was becoming quite apparent and it was time to lose some weight. Have you been in a situation where you know you need to make a change in your lifestyle but you didn't know where to start? I was able to lose 25 pounds in 2 months and keep it off by making three simple changes in my diet.

1. I started eating a big breakfast.

Ironic, I know. Having a big breakfast helps you stay full longer. If you are eating proper foods, a healthy breakfast might look something like,

- 5 Egg whites + 1 egg yolk on two pieces of whole wheat toast.

Or I might have,

- Half a cup of oatmeal with a protein shake and a scoop of peanut butter.

When having a large nutritious breakfast I found myself less likely to crash and binge eat later in the afternoon and evening.

2. Replacing simple carbohydrates with green carbohydrates.

A great green carbohydrate is spinach, not only is it high in vitamins and minerals, it is low in calories. One cup is just seven calories. Having two cups of pasta, the calories and carbohydrates add up quickly, however, having two cups of spinach is virtually nothing. Spinach salad makes for a fantastic lunch. Just chop up a boneless skinless chicken breast and toss it on top of a bed of spinach, add some low fat dressing and your done. A healthy meal that only takes 10 minutes to make.

3. Only protein after 8pm.

Since your body stores excess carbohydrates that it doesn't use as fat, it's best to have the bulk of your carbohydrates at breakfast and post workout. Towards the end of the night you want to taper off the carbohydrates and stick to high protein, low carbohydrate foods and drinks.

A high protein snack before bed may include a couple glasses of milk, protein shake, yogurt or cottage cheese.

Cottage cheese is an excellent source of protein, if you can stand the taste. If you can't, try adding some flavored yogurt to it. Sounds weird doesn't it? Try it.

With cottage cheese you are getting a casein based protein which is slower digesting than whey protein. Providing on average 16 grams of protein per half cup with a little over 100 calories, it is the perfect pre bed snack.

Often you tend to get hungry at night, that is when binge eating starts. You go for anything you can get your hands on and don't stop until the bag is empty. If you know you are going to be up for a little longer have some peanut butter or some kind of healthy fat source. Healthy fats are great for you and they are the most filling compared to carbohydrates or protein. Fat is calorie dense, 9 calories per gram. Keep that in mind.

Controlling calories at night time had a major impact on my success as far as losing weight quickly goes.

These three small changes in my diet helped me drop from 205 pounds to a lean 180 pounds in just 2 months.

Ab Exercises - Why Sit Ups & Crunches are Bad for You

Sit-up is the most popular AND yet, the worst ab exercise. Most people don't know that sit-up is not a true ab exercise. When performing a sit-up, your main trunk flexor, the iliopsoas muscle, often does the majority of the work while the abs are not fully recruited.

The iliopsoas muscles originates on the lower back so it pulls on the lower back during every repetition of sit-up, especially when your feet are held down or anchored, or repetitions are performed in a jerky manner. Too many sit-ups can lead to strength imbalance between iliopsoas and abs, poor posture and lower back pain.

People who hold weights while doing sit-ups think that helps to build their abs. Unfortunately, they increase the chances of lower back injury significantly. The iliopsoas muscles work much harder and place even more strain on the lower back than bodyweight sit-ups. Additional weight may lead to poor exercise form, thus amplifying the likelihood of injury.

Crunches are another common ab exercise. Doing hundreds of crunches alone and regularly can pull your head forward and leave your spine slightly flexed (leading to hunch back). You end up with poor posture and lower back pain.

If you don't overuse crunches, they can still be an effective ab exercise. Vary your ab workout just like you vary your cardio and strength training exercise.

There are plenty of safe and effective ab exercises for conditioning and strengthening your abs, which many people are not aware of. They include total body exercises that work the abs and swiss ball workout.

Believe it or not, you can develop amazing abs without ever doing a single sit-up!

How to Easily Get Flat Lower Abs

Time and time again, I get contacted by frustrated trainees experiencing the same problem: Their upper abs are looking okay, but their lower abs are bulging out.  This is very typical, even for those who train hard and follow a sound diet.  There are three different causes of the lower ab bulge.  In order to flatten this region of your stomach, all three causes must be corrected.

The first reason the lower abs bulge out is caused by excess body fat.  The majority of individuals can lose their belly fat on the upper portion of their abs first.  On the other hand, the fat around their belly button would be burned last, only if these trainees got very lean.  This lower belly fat is only lost by engaging in a well-designed fat burning protocol.  This protocol would include a combonation of: metabolism raising resistance training, proper nutrition and high intensity cardio.

The second cause of the lower ab flab is directly related to the pelvic position.  If the pelvis is rotated forward, it will cause your lower spine to arch excessively.  This "over arch" causes your belly to bulge out even if your body fat levels are low.

In order to correct this problem, you must lengthen your hip flexors and strengthen your abdominals.  If this is done properly, you will realign your pevis and flatten your belly in no time.

Now I will give you instructions on how to perform a simple hip flexor stretch and describe a few different abdominal exercises.  Choose the ab exercise that is appropriate for your strength level.

Hip Flexor Stretch- Get into a lunge position.  Adjust the distance between your feet so when you squat down the shin on your front leg is in a vertical position.  You must maintain an upright torso.  Hold for one minute.  Repeat on the other leg.

Beginner Ab Exercise- Lie on your back on the floor.  Bend your knees to 90 degrees and place your feet flat on the floor.  With your palms down, place them under your lower back.  Lift both legs off the floor until your knees are pointing directly to the ceiling.  Roll your pelvis backward, thus creating slight pressure on your fingers.  This is the starting position.  Now lower both legs to the floor without arching your back and releasing any pressure off your hands.  To progress, simply straighten your legs several degrees each workout until you are performing this exercise with straight legs.

Level 2 Ab Exercise- Lie on your back.  Bend both knees and hips until they form ninety degree angles.  Bring knees toward chest by flexing your abdominal muscles while maintaining a constant knee angle. Return until hips and knees are again extended to 90 degree angles.  Repeat for the prescribed number of reps.

Advanced Ab Exercise- Lie on a decline bench.  Bend both knees and hips to 90 degree angles.  Lift knees toward chest by flexing abdominal muscles while maintaining a constant knee angle.  Now lower back down until hips and knees are again extended to 90 degree angles.  To progress, increase the angle of the decline.

The third reason for lower belly distension is abdominal bloating, which can be caused by two different problems.  The first is constipation.  If you are constipated, be sure to increase your water intake and check to see if you are getting enough dietary fiber (25-40 grams daily).  If those things are already in check, consult with your physician to achieve optimal bowel functioning.

The second cause of the distention is eating foods to which you are reactive.  When you eat foods that your body is sensitive to, your immune system will respond, which causes bloating in the abdominal area.  If you suspect this to be your culprit, pay close attention to how you feel after eating each meal.  Eliminate any foods that may cause you bloating, cramping, diarrhea or stomach discomfort.

So what's the secret to losing belly fat at any age and keeping it off forever? The good news is, there is no secret! Losing all your belly and stomach fat is only possible one way: You need to use up more calories than you take in, it's impossible for anything else to work.

The problem is, most of what we're told about how to loose belly fat is a big fat lie. People in the U.S. spend more than fifty billion dollars annually on diet pills and weight loss products. Still, over 66% of Americans are fat. Do you know what that means?

That NO diet or weight loss product WORKS when it comes to permanently losing belly fat.

It has been scientifically proven that individuals who are chronically under stress are more likely to have excess stomach fat and can never lose belly fat.  Is this because stressed out people tend to stress eat? 

Well this may be the case for a percentage of these individuals.  After all, stress eaters typically binge on sugar-laden junk foods during periods of stress, which of course would cause unwanted fat gain. 

This would make clear the link between being persistently stressed and having extra body fat in a broad sense.  The conversation would end here but we know that even stressed out individuals who are basically lean still have a tendency to carry an unbalanced amount of abdominal fat compared to other areas on their body.

So, if you are stressed out, why does the bulk of the fat you gain find its new home right on your stomach?  Recent studies have found an answer to this question.

Researchers have found a strong correlation between high cortisol levels and increased stomach fat.  For those of you who don't know, cortisol is a stress hormone that is produced by the adrenals and is released in the body in response to stress.

So how does cortisol have this negative effect?

Well, due to its negative effect on insulin and blood sugar metabolism, it promotes massive sugar cravings.

But perhaps even more damaging than that, cortisol can significantly decrease the natural increase in your metabolic rate that normally occurs after eating a meal.  This leads to burning fewer total calories per day thus making you predisposed to gain more body fat.

But it gets even worse.

Cortisol also burns up lean muscle tissue.  Since lean muscle tissue is responsible for the speed of your metabolic rate, breaking muscle down makes losing belly fat nearly impossible. 

This explains why a person with high levels of cortisol would hold more fat in general.  But what is the specific connection with cortisol and BELLY fat? 

Well, abdominal fat has just about five times more cortisol receptors than body fat from anywhere else in the body.  Therefore, the higher your cortisol levels are, the more your body will need more receptors, thus prompting it to store more abdominal fat.

It is also speculated that once cortisol has bound itself to the receptors found on abdominal fat, it prevents that fat from releasing fatty acids to be burned as fuel, even during a fat burning workout. 

In other words, the fat that lands on your stomach is "stubborn", and doesn't want to leave.  It has a vested interest in keeping your stomach nice and plump! 

Alright, I hope that you are now convinced that keeping your cortisol levels in check is a big part of any successful fat loss program.  But how do we do that? 

Well, most supplement companies sell cortisol blockers.  The primary ingredient in these formulas is phosphatidylserine.  The bad news (and don't hold your breath waiting for these companies to admit it) is that these formulas do NOT work.  They are a total waste of your money so stay away from them.

The good news is that there are some simple things you can do to keep your cortisol at a level that won't cause any problems.  Here are some very valuable strategies:

1) Reduce stress (or at least don't sweat the small stuff) - I know that this is easier said than done.  But any attempt to deal with life's situations in a calm manner will make a difference.

2) Reduce alcohol use- Drinking booze will increase cortisol levels at a fast rate.  Can anyone say, "beer belly"?

3) Limit caffeine use- I know, I know...First no booze, and now no coffee!?!?  Look, I'm sorry to be the fun police, but you will need to ditch that latte if you are serious about losing belly fat.

4) Eat small meals throughout the day- Eating one or two big meals per day puts unnecessary stress on the body.  This too leads to increases in cortisol.

5) Lighten up! - Most people don't realize that laughter is one of the best remedies to lower your cortisol levels profoundly.  So laugh a little!

6) Don't overtrain- Yes, the very training you are doing to burn belly fat can actually be encouraging your body to store it.  Too much of a good thing is NOT a good thing!

How Do You Lose Belly Fat - A Healthy Approach To Bodybuilding Abs

How do you lose belly fat?

That seems to be the million dollar question.  Many people say the key is to “obey.”  But, I’m going to give you a more thorough answer to the question how do you lose belly fat in this article. A firm, flat stomach is the ultimate symbol of sex appeal.  But researchers have also found that abdominal fat lose is one of the most important things you can do to stay healthy for life.

While you probably realize that excess fat is unhealthy, you should also know that where the fat is distributed is key to health.  People who are fattest in the abdomen (the so called “apple shaped body”) have a greater risk of heart disease and diabetes than those with pear shapes (fattest in the hips, buttocks, and thighs).

You won’t be surprised to learn that the best way to lose abdominal fat is to eat right and exercise regularly. And there's a growing body of evidence showing that the quickest way to burn off the fat from your belly is with a mix of weight-training and aerobic exercise.

One study tracked 30 obese women for six months.  The women were assigned to either a control group, an aerobic exercise group, or a combined exercise group.The aerobic exercise group did a full hour of cardio exercise for six days a week.  The combined exercise group did weight training on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and aerobic exercise on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

At the end of the six month period, the women in the aerobic group had lost 23.1 cm of abdimonal subcutaneous fat while the combined group lost 61.8 cm, nearly three times as much.  The combined group also did better on the abdominal visceral fat measure with 93 cm lost compared to 82 for the aerobic only group.  There was no change in the control group.

How do you lose belly fat starts with developing a combined exercise plan that is strenuous.  30 minutes a few times a week won’t cut it.  You need a full body training program combining cardiovascular and resistance exercises. You don’t need to do hundreds of crunches, sit ups or any of the complicated routines being touted by the “six pack abs” hype machine.  The key to losing belly fat is to burn more calories than you eat.  These fancy exercises don’t burn the kind of calories you need in order to be really successful.  

Getting killer abs has a lot less to do with training and everything to do with lowering your total body fat. The next step is to eat the right foods.  There is a lot of conflicting information on nutrition.  From the Adkins “eat no carbs” people to those who eschew all fats, there are radicals on every side.  

How do you lose belly fat starts with taking in enough protein to maintain muscle mass.  At least 20 to 30 percent of your diet should come from fats.  Then, you balance your carbs around the other two factors depending on whether you want to lose weight or not.  And if you are trying to lose belly fat, you do want to lose weight.  You must take in fewer calories than you burn.

How do you lose belly fat?  Basically, if you lose the excess fat in your system, your belly will go away too.
