A very common question for many is "how do I lose my belly fat?"

Let's face it belly fat is a huge problem for mankind. Especially for those of us who live in the United States of America. Our society is an over weight group. It really does not matter what our age is from the young child to the aging baby boomer fat seems to be hanging on just about every part of our bodies. The belly is no different and in fact is probably harder to lose there than on any part of the body.

If you run a search for how do I lose my belly fat on Google, a number of questions from Yahoo pop up looking for the answer. People of all ages male and female are looking for answers on getting a flat stomach. I even saw one trying to find out how to lose her belly fat without exercise and changing her eating habits. Talk about a typical I want but I don't want to do anything to get it type attitude. It is not possible to get flat abs without putting forth some major effort.

You will have to do at least two things if you really want to get rid of those love handles and get that flat tummy you have always dreamed about. If you are not willing to put forth this kind of effort you will not make to that elimination of your belly fat. Please don't get me wrong it will not take you hours a day but you will have to spend some time working at it. Here is what my wife and I have put into practice in order to get rid of our extra fat.

1.First we began eating in the right manner.

Let's face it our eating habit is the reason why most of us have all that extra b fat to begin with. If we do not change our dietary habits we will never be able to lose our belly fat. I believe it is probably the most important aspect of getting those ripped abs. If you actually want to be able see your abs under that fat belly you are going to have to change your diet. I am not talking about some strict diet where you are hungry all the time simple a change in your lifestyle habits of eating. It has worked miracles for my wife and me.

2.Secondly we began doing some exercises.

Neither one of us are spring chickens any more so we had to be a little limited in our workout programs. However, once we learned the proper way to exercise the belly fat began to slowly disappear. Make sure you get a physicians recommendation before you start a rigid exercise program. The last thing you need is some type of physical problems to interfere with getting your flat stomach. No kidding regardless of your age you can find the flexible workout program and home gym that will work for you.

The next time you ask yourself the question, how do I lose my belly fat, remember that it is possible to tighten those muscles up. However, it will take a little effort on your part to have a balanced diet and a complete workout program. Here is a great place to find help to lose your belly

Getting rid of fat and keeping it off

get rid of fatmay just be the hardest thing a person can do. We go on diet after diet and plan after plan and never succeed in dropping more than a couple of pounds and then within the week we have put it back on and sometimes even more than we lost. How do I know this? It is because I have done it time after time just like you have. I have got to tell you fad diets do not work and I have proven this at least a dozen times haven't you?

So what do we do if our desire is to get rid of fat and these new or old fangled diets don't work?  Here is what I did and I believe it will work for you as well. It really is simple if you know what you are doing and you stick with it. Does it take work? Yes it does and in fact anything worth its salt take effort. Without effort you can just forget about getting rid of fat and keeping it off. Do these three things and you will succeed in losing those extra pounds that you have put on Don't do these three things and you will just stay the same or put on more fat your choice not mine.

Get the proper thought pattern.

If you do not get your thought right you will not succeed in losing weight. Most of the problem in getting anything done is between the ears. If we do not get the little Grey matter thinking in the right direction we will not make it. Decide right here and now that you will get rid of your fat and tone your body up. Decide to do it then just do it!

Find the proper exercise pattern.

Once yo get your mind set and you have decided that you will succeed the next thing you need to do is decide on what exercise routine you are going to use to get the job done. It will take a well rounded routine that will target the whole body inside and out. You will need some cardiovascular exercises along with some strength, resistance training. You cannot simple target one small area on your body it must be done using an over all system.

Get the proper nutritional pattern.

You can do all the exercising you want to but if you do not couple it with proper nutrition then you are wasting your time and time is too valuable a commodity to waste. When you learn what foods to eat and what foods to avoid it goes a long ways to getting rid of the fat. Finding out what fats are good for you and what fats are bad for you is essential to proper nutritional eating.

I have to tell you that once you get these things down pat you will lose the fat. However, if you get even one of them off kilter and cheat doing them then you will fail when it comes to keeping the fat off. It doe not make sense to me to put forth the effort for a couple of weeks and then quit. This has to be a lifestyle change or you will not succeed and I realize that this is a big commitment for you but you must make it. When I hit middle age I realized that I needed to learn how to get back in shape. My belly was overhanging my belt and I had to push out my neck to actually see my toes. No I was not obese and was probably in better shape than most men my age but I had not done a thing to help lose any weight or to stay in shape. I knew that I had to make some changes in my lifestyle if I wanted to still look good when I crept out of middle age into old age.

What I decided to do is not only for middle age men. It is really the thing to do regardless of gender or age, man, woman, young or old makes no difference. 1.Get your mind in the game.

The first thing that is a must if you are going to win the battle of the bulge is to get your mind wrapped around the problem. If your mind is not in the game you will more than likely end up like the Detroit Lions football team losing every game. I believe that in order to do anything right our head has to be involved and it is no different when it comes to getting back in shape. So buy into the fact that you can do this. You can loss the extra pounds and slim down the belly fat.

2.Learn to eat the right foods.

Finding the proper nutritional value of the food you eat is very important when it comes to trimming down. Discovering the calorie count and how many calories you should have in a day is essential. However, discovering what foods help to burn calories is just as important if you want to discover how to get back in shape and stay in shape.

3.Implement the correct exercise program.

Exercising is really not all that tough. All you need to do is learn the correct routine and stick with it for a coupe of weeks. Habits are easy to form if we stick with something long enough it will be habitual. Once exercise has become a habit you will miss it when you have to miss a day or so. The key is getting the right routine and staying at it.

Once I figured out these three steps the rest was pretty easy. I think that you will agree with me once you learn how to get back in shape that is is well worth the small effort that you put into it. After all, the belly deflates a little bit, you have more energy, and you will look better than you have for years. Yes you can win the battle of the bulge and be able to stay in shape once you discover the not so secret tricks on how to get back in shape. Middle Age Risks of Belly Fat - How to Lose Belly Fat

My New Years resolution this year was to lose 20 lbs. While I only weighed 200 lbs when I made the resolution I felt that 180 lbs would be about right for me. Most of my weight was found in the belly fat category. So I started doing some research on the Internet about losing belly fat and boy did I learn a lot.

One of the first things I discovered was that how much you weigh may be less important than you think. Studies show measuring the waistline is a better indicator when it comes to measuring health levels in men and women. It has been proven that men whose waist measures 40 inches or more and women who have a waistline measuring 35 inches or more are putting themselves at risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, cancer, and other illnesses.

Dr. Robert Eckel, president of the AHA, says, "A big waistline puts you at risk for many health problems---diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke."

The Journal of Neurology published a report Wednesday, March 26, 2008, which said that people that have extra belly fat while in their 40's are more likely to have dementia when they reach their 70's.

Here is a simple test to measure your belly fat ratio.

Everyone should know their waist-to-hip ratio here is a simple way to figure that out.
While standing, measure around your waist, at your navel, without holding it in or pushing out your belly. Then measure your hips at the widest point. And finally, divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement.
That will be your waist to hip ratio.
The ideal will be for your waist to be smaller than your hips. For men it should be .9 or less and women ought to be .8 or less. 1.0 or higher is considered at risk for either sex.

Alternative Tracks to lose Belly Fat

In my research for losing my belly fat I discovered that a balanced nutritional diet and exercise program was the only way I felt comfortable in losing my belly fat. Sure I could have had liposuction and suck that ugly belly fat away. That has never appealed to me, YUCK! Or perhaps gastric bypass surgery and then watch what I eat and of course take supplemental nutrients to make up for the little food I could eat. But then I really was not that overweight. And again YUCK! So surgery was just not an option. All the different teas and diet pills did not appeal to me either. Who wants to pop a pill to curb the appetite, I personally like to eat and I had a desire to lose weight fast and safe.
During the research I discovered that the fastest way to drop my belly fat was to engage in aerobic exercise coupled with weight training. Of course reducing my calorie intake was also a vital part of the whole process. I actually reviewed two exercise programs and two diet programs to see which way I should go to lose my belly fat.. No I have not quite lost my 20 lbs yet but I have lost 10 lbs and reduced my belly fat immensely and added muscle. So I think that 190 lbs of muscle far outweighs the actual poundage weight that I have. I have improved my health risks from excess belly fat to a great degree.

Some Foods to Avoid

Processed foods (cook for yourself)
Trans-fat and other fatty foods (not all fat is bad check it out)
Excessive salt (sodium)
Some Foods to Enjoy
Salmon-good protein with high omega 3
Avocado and artichoke
Almonds and walnuts ½ hour before meal (tells your brain that you are full)
Increase fiber and water intake

Simply doing sit-ups will not get rid of your belly fat.

It will take a well rounded exercise program with proper nutritional eating in order to lose the belly fat and flatten your stomach. I want to help you succeed in finally getting rid of that extra abdominal fat that is not only UGLY, but also DANGEROUS. You really can lose weight fast and safe with the proper plan.
